I found these old maps at an estate sale and initially just loved that they were from the surrounding area. I'll admit, I bought them without actually knowing what I'd use them for. But for a whole stack for $1, I couldn't pass them up.I found two maps that were green and red and got to working making them into Christmas decor!
After cutting the maps into triangles, I sewed a line down the middle of the triangle. After fanning out the pages, you could stop and have trees right from that. I made them into honeycomb shapes to give it some extra dimension. For details on how I made that work, head on over to my blog!
I added glass glitter to the edges of one of them, and left the other one as is. You could easily make these trees with any type of decorative paper, old books, or sheet music. I personally love the maps!
The red and green are definitely subtle, but give it a little Christmas touch.
