Moss Ball Planters...

Making planters out of a ball of soil, sheet moss and some twine? yep! Combining them with some other items to create an incredible fall foliage table centerpiece!? OH YEAH!

The main supplies to make the moss balls are:
sheet moss
soil + water
little plants
twine
scissors
To turn them into a centrepiece find a platter or crate and some other items that you would like to combine that match your home... I chose pinecones, seasonal greens, candles/vintage mason jar lanterns, twigs...





Pour some water into a bowl of soil... go slow... but don't worry if you add too much - you can just squeeze out the excess water...





Get into the soil... and form a ball... if its too dry then add some more water... if its too wet then squeeze your soil into a ball and squish out the excess water so that it holds together...





...like this!...





Lay your soil ball on the sheet moss and tear away any excess moss...





Next, poke a hole in the ball of dirt.. hold it firmly as it may crumble a little while you are digging your little hole... we need to fit our little plant into the hole... and we can squish back any crumbled soil before wrapping it in moss...





...before planting the little plant remove any excess soil from the plants roots, and then plant it into the little soil ball and give it a squish!... the ball not the plant!





Now wrap the ball in the sheet moss - completely covering the soil ball...





...and take your twine and wrap it around the ball in a few directions to hold the moss to the ball!





... then trim off any hairy moss bits (if you want your ball to be neat and tidy)... if not than don't! its up to you!





Next arrange the moss balls on your tray/crate with greenery, candles, lanterns, pinecones, christmas balls, a tea set... this is up for you to get creative with!...
