Someone's Trash is Most Always MY Treasure!

Couldn't bare to part with a discarded queen-size headboard left at a storage unit we rented, so this is the happy ending. :)

Maple? Not sure of the wood, but it is a nice heavy headboard. It was just SCREAMING to become a bench.

I used 2x4's to build a strong support for the seat, then trim pieces for a park bench, slatted seat. Of course I had problems finding legs large enough for this project, but, in the end, I find the thinner ones to add a bit of whimsy to the piece. I used my Kreg pocket screw maker to have nice (hidden screw) corners and it made it such a nice, tight fit. LOVE that tool!

The finished project, minus the 3" squared cushion I had made for it. Sadly, as creative as I am with many things, I HATE sitting in front of a sewing machine. Can't do it! Lighter gray cushion with red, gray and black bandana pillows and it was a done deal!
