70s Dinning Table Paint Upgrade Using Breakthrough Paint

A 70s Dinning Table painting project I did for a great customer.

I had this project from a good customer that didn't want to spend thousands buying a new Dinning Table and had this one that he got from his father who had passed. The color was painted in the 7os by his mother who was in the main stream of the Antiquing look and did it herself. She did a wonderful job for the times. But just didn't fit with what my customer had going his new home.So I said let's repaint it and here's the results.

First I had to de-gloss the chairs. I used a sander de-glosser to give the surface a better adhesion for the first coat. Before De-glossing.

This is after De-glossing.

This is the first coat of Breakthrough paint used.

This is the second coat of paint.

This is the 3rd and final coat of Breakthrough paint.

I used the existing back rests and seat pads as the color would match with what the interior designer was looking for.

After De-glossing the Table the first coat was applied.

In this picture you can see the difference between the chair in the foreground and the first coat on the table. There were 2 more coat applied before the gold leaf detail that I added to help match in with the Dinning room Hutch that was already purchased and in the dinning room which has some gold in it for highlights.

The Gold Leaf highlights were nit painted a solid gold but just brushed lightly allowing the darkness of the table to come through and making it look and feel older to match the China Hutch already in place.

I painted the leg bottoms solid and as you can see in this picture just lightly brushed in the details.

This is the finished Dinning table in place and ready for the glass top that is being made to cover the top.

My customer was happy with the end results and now that something that hold memories but with a new look for a new home. Thanks for taking the time to check this painting project out.
