I am a part of a group of bloggers that have a furniture redo challenge. Each month we have a different theme, for November it was weathered furniture. I picked up this shelf on the side of the road, using some wood pallets, I was able to make this a rustic, weathered and functional piece of furniture in my home.
You can go to my blog post to see a link that will take you to all of the other bloggers and their weathered furniture pieces. Lost of inspiration!
After cleaning it off I used two cans of spray paint. I wanted this to have a white frame to blend in nicely in my bedroom.
I cut up a bunch of wood pallets and sanded them down.
Using a dark walnut wood stain, it brought out the gorgeous wood grain and detail in these.
I used wood glue to adhere the surface shelf pieces. Then a nail gun to add the front portion of the shelf on.
I am loving the lines and details that the wood stain brought out!
Adding some books and a few small accessories makes this shelf feel thought out and decorated.
I will be adding a few more bins and baskets to this as I get my bedroom more organized.
Luckily this fits right in. I love the pop and contrast of the dark wood and the white frame. It has a industrial feel with a bit of traditional with the dark wood stain. I would say this fits the weathered theme. It also fits my need for more storage in this room.
A more detailed tutorial with more pictures and steps is over at my blog.
